Inside the tumultuous 400-year history of the intersection of religion and public life in America – from American Experience and FRONTLINE
This is a very insightful look at the history of religion and its shaping role in the public discourse of America. The program goes all the way from the religious and theological narratives that were being used even prior to the founding of the Republic through the culture wars, the Civil Rights movement, the Religious Right, and into the religious aspect of the post-September 11th "global war on terror."
It is a valuable investment of six hours to understand who "We" as Americans are in regards to our religious traditions, how we got there, and where we are going.
Stephen Prothero (Boston University | www.stephenprothero.com) was a central part of the designing and narrating of this program.
